As Tlingit people we have survived for thousands of years depending on the tide and the seasons.  Our lifestyle is a whole cycle surrounding food gathering for each time of the year passed down through generations.  In the spring the food cycle began and we moved to our camps and setup for gathering.  Summer came and we moved to our fish streams and fished and prepared them for drying and smoking.  In the fall we hunted for deer and began to preserve our catch for the coming winter.  Then the whole cycle began again….This is the cultural significance relating to the importance of the seasons.
